Photodiode heartbeat monitor
PHYS 3330, Spring 2025 · team project
An IR LED and photodiode sensor with an LF356 transimpedance amplifier, AC isolation and a low-pass filter, feeding an Arduino that computed beats per minute every 10 s, in a 3D-printed housing. I helped isolate the noise to find the pulse signal. On demo day it did not detect a heartbeat, a good lesson in how hard low-level signals are to pull out of noise.
Other work
- Polarization Lab (prep lab for the satellite senior design project, Dec 2025, team): from Jones calculus to ellipsometry.
- Cascadia Subduction Zone talk (ERTH 2005 Earth Materials, Sep 2026, team).
- Sustainable rocket fuels review (scientific writing course, Fall 2024, solo).
- 3D printer setup and repair (LulzBot 3D printer, high school, ~2016–2017).
- Arduino RC car (NYU summer robotics course, 2016): I wired and built the car; the starter code was not mine.
